Black Diamond provides MEP design services for homes, additions, and commercial projects in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings are coordinated with your architectural and structural sheets, so the full set moves through plan check together.
MEP stands for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, the three systems that make a building comfortable and usable. MEP drawings show how each system is laid out and sized, and most jurisdictions require them for new construction, additions, and many remodels.
Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems carry a significant share of a building's cost and nearly all of its day-to-day comfort. When those layouts are drawn and coordinated before construction, contractors can price the work accurately, the trades avoid clashing inside walls and ceilings, and the building performs the way it was designed.
In the Coachella Valley, that also means HVAC sized for desert cooling loads and systems that support your Title 24 compliance.
MEP plans connect to almost every other sheet in the set. Duct runs have to fit the framing, panel locations have to match the floor plan, and equipment selections drive the Title 24 energy calculations, so a change in one discipline affects the rest.
Black Diamond drafts and coordinates MEP sheets alongside the architectural and structural drawings, so conflicts are resolved on paper before they reach plan check or the field. For commercial work and other projects that require a licensed engineer's stamp, we coordinate with licensed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers and bring their work into one set of construction documents.
HVAC, electrical, and plumbing layouts for new homes, ADUs, and additions, including heat pump systems, panel upgrades, and new service connections. Where the project expands an existing house, new systems are drawn to tie into what is already there.
MEP sheets for tenant improvements, remodels, and new commercial buildings, covering restroom fixtures, kitchen equipment, lighting, and rooftop units. We coordinate with licensed engineers wherever stamped drawings are required.
Gas, electrical, and water rough-in for pools, spas, outdoor kitchens, and fire features, coordinated with the hardscape and equipment locations. Pool and spa heaters are planned to meet current energy code requirements.
01
We review the floor plans, equipment needs, and existing service to define the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scope.
02
HVAC equipment and duct routing, electrical panels, circuits, and lighting, and plumbing supply, waste, and vent layouts are drawn to current code and sized for desert cooling loads.
03
MEP sheets are cross-checked against the architectural and structural drawings before submittal, reducing conflicts in plan check and in the field.

Enrique has been very productive and professional with all of the drafting and engineering work we’ve needed to get our business up and running. We highly appreciate your help, and we will definitely keep working with you in the near future!
I’m extremely happy with my pool results. They did an awesome job, and most importantly, they return your calls the same day.
I had a limited budget to work with and Black Diamond was able to come up with an amazing pool & landscaping design that will meet all our needs and more. A big thank you to Frank & Enrique for their creativity and understanding.
