Black Diamond prepares Title 24 compliance for homes, additions, ADUs, and commercial projects in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley. Energy calculations and compliance forms are built into your plan set from the start, so your project is ready for permit under the current California Energy Code.
Title 24, Part 6, is the California Energy Code, the statewide standard that sets how much energy a building can be designed to use. Every new home, addition, ADU, and most commercial projects must show compliance before the city will issue a permit. The current 2025 edition took effect January 1, 2026, and moves new construction toward heat pumps for heating, cooling, and water heating.
Compliance is shaped by decisions made early: how the building faces the sun, how much glass it has, and the roof, insulation, and mechanical systems. When energy requirements are part of the first design, those choices work together, and the finished building is more comfortable and less expensive to run.
When compliance waits until the end, the energy report can call for new windows, added insulation, or different equipment after the plans are drawn, which adds cost and redesign time before the permit.
Black Diamond handles Title 24 energy compliance as part of the design, rather than as a separate report ordered at the end. Because we draft the plans and coordinate the MEP sheets, the energy calculations match the drawings, the equipment schedules, and the construction details exactly.
We work in Climate Zone 15 every day, so we know which glazing, roof, and HVAC choices perform here and how local building departments review compliance forms. If plan check returns energy comments, we answer them directly with the city and update your construction documents.
Energy compliance for new homes, ADUs, additions, and alterations, including the heat pump and solar requirements that apply to new single-family construction. Calculations and forms are bound into your plan set for submittal.
Nonresidential compliance for tenant improvements, remodels, and new commercial buildings, covering envelope, lighting, and mechanical systems. Documentation is coordinated with your MEP plans so every discipline matches.
Climate Zone 15 covers Palm Springs, Indio, and the rest of the valley, and cooling loads drive much of the compliance here. We plan orientation, shading, glazing, and roof choices to meet the code efficiently, and new pool and spa heaters are sized to the solar or heat pump requirements.
01
We review the building envelope, glazing, orientation, and HVAC and water heating systems against current California energy code.
02
We prepare the Title 24 energy calculations and compliance forms, and identify adjustments if the design falls short.
03
The documentation goes directly into your plan set, so energy compliance is reviewed alongside the rest of the submittal.

Enrique Zarate was referred to us, we are very happy that we used him for our backyard. He is very creative and came up with some great ideas and was very fast at getting our plans done. He listened to what we wanted, and the final plans were outstanding. I would highly recommend him.
